Since that time he has dived almost every Rebreather to be produced acquiring thousands of hours on them.

Tom Mount first started diving in 1958.  Even now he continues to log an average of over 300 dives annually. In 1991 he joined IAND with its founder Dick Rutkowski and was instrumental in restructuring of the organization to include all levels of mixed gas and technical diving. Later in 1994 he led the BOD and BOA to expand the IAND, Inc./IANTD Training Programs to include recreational diving programs as well as technical courses. The Deep Diver section enables the recreational diver to develop the tools, skills, technique, knowledge and in-water time to be proficient and enjoy safer diving in depths up to 130 fsw (40 msw). The course introduces the use of dual outlet valves, pony bottles, use of reels and liftbags, detailed dive planning, equipment configuration as well as physiological and psychological aspects of deeper diving. The course may be completed over a three day period and includes lectures, one confined water session and four dives with two of the dives to depths between 100 and 130 fsw (30 to 40 msw).
Course fee: $325.00, plus two texts @ $50.00, plus two dive charters @ $100.00. Total cost: $475.00 plus gas fills. Rental equipment is also available if requested in advance. Instructor: David Mount

Advanced EANx Diver: The Advanced EANx Diver course is the most comprehensive course offered at the recreational diver level. This curriculum develops a more in-depth understanding of the application of EANx and the use of EANx mixtures up to 50% for safety or required stops. In-depth attention is directed to equipment, dive planning especially in use of various EANx mixtures, physics, physiology, decompression, stress management, and injury management. One confined water session and four dives are presented in this course to develop the watermanship needed to be awarded certification as Advanced EANx Diver. This course includes detailed tracking of CNS % exposure and introduced the diver to the UPTD concept of tracking pulmonary oxygen exposure. To be eligible for this course the student must be certified in both EANx and Deep Air diving. Equivalent experience may be credited as entry to the program if demonstrated by completion of the written exams and skill performance of the two previous levels.

Students completingthis course will develop a sens of confidence and awareness to avoid pitfalls some CCR divers have experienced such as complacency and distraction. The course includes lectures, written exam, a confined water session and 8 CCR dives with a total in-water time in excess of 800 minutes. This course is frequently taught in the Carribbean Islands enabling students to maximize in water time.

This program is highly recommended prior to advancing into full cave or wreck penetration programs. The class will incorporate 2 to 4 dives on wrecks with penetration limited to the ability to see surface light plus 2 to 4 dives in caverns developing the basic skills need for all overhead environment dives plus 4 cave dives. This is an ideal course for those curious about overhead environment diving who are not committed to extensive penetrations into these potentially hazardous environments. The course will involve lectures, one confined water session and 10 dives. The average total bottom time in these courses is 225 minutes, not including ascent or stop times. Instructor: David Mount

Trimix - OC or Rebreather   Explicitly for those who must venture to depths beyond those of Normoxic Trimix.  Trimix utilizes the advantages helium as a deeper diving gas balancing reduced PPO2’s, less narcosis and decompression stop times to maximize diver efficiency.  This is the decisive factor for safer deep water exploration. It is the tool opening the door to increased diving adventure.  The course is an in-depth awakening to the theory and techniques for use of this “magic” gas.  A total of five days of training is needed for divers already qualified technical diver or Normoxic Trimix Diver to instill the needed abilities and knowledge for utilizing Trimix as a dive gas.  One confined water session two training dives in depths more shallow than 130 feet (39 m) and three Trimix dives are included in this comprehensive quest.
Course Fee $1,000.00, plus text $30.00, dive gas fills and dive charters. CCR divers who are already OC Trimix the cost is $700.00. If course is NOT taught in Miami, Tom’s expenses are to be added in (airfare, ground transport, food, gas fills, charter fees and lodging to be divided by students).

Wreck Penetration and Cave Diver

Technical Wreck Diver - OC or Rebreather  This course is offered as Wreck Penetration only or combined with the theory from Technical Diver.  This is a detailed course exposing the student to all the skills, knowledge and abilities to penetrate wrecks with a greater degree of safety.  It is a through program consisting of approximately 300 minutes of bottom time.  Approximately 9 hours of lectures are included plus one confined water session and 6 wreck penetration dives depending on total bottom time per dive.  Bottom time in the course will be a minimum of 280 minutes with an average in excess of 320 minutes.  Detailed planning, use of reels and equipment configuration are targeted along with how to locate wrecks.
