What is a Rebreather? &

The Learners Guide to Rebreathers.

1. This Program is designed to train Recreational Divers in the safer use and technology of basic Semi-Closed Circuit Rebreather or Closed Circuit Rebreather diving with no decompression, up to 1.2 PO₂ and to depths up to 70 fsw (21 msw).

2. This course may be used as an entry-level course to SCUBA diving if combined with the Open Water Diver program in which case Open Circuit dives will be substituted with Closed Circuit Rebreather dives.   Or this course may be used as a Closed Circuit Rebreather course for experienced recreational divers, desirous of remaining at the recreational level.

3. A diver already qualified as an Open Water Deep Diver completing this program, can dive to a maximum depth of 100 fsw (30 msw) if they are guided or supervised on all dives from 70 fsw (21 msw) to 100 fsw (30 msw) by an IANTD Rebreather Supervisor or Instructor.

     Other manufacturer’s requirements MAY APPLY for specific Rebreathers so please consult manufacturers literature prior to training or teaching.

As of September 2009, ALL Semi-Closed Rebreathers are approved for this Diver program AND the list of Closed Circuit Rebreathers approved by the Manufacturer to be included in this Recreational-level SCR and CCR Rebreather Diver Program includes:
